History

Established in the UK in 1957, operating in 30 countries and employing over 1000 people, Tunstall supports 2.5m people around the world.

Tunstall’s philosophy is simple – to protect, support and care for people - by providing healthcare technology and services that enable anyone requiring support and reassurance, such as older people or those with long term needs, to lead an independent life.

In 2005, Bridgepoint took over Hg Capital’s majority interest in Tunstall in a transaction worth £225m. Tunstall then went through a period of expansion into Asia Pacific and Continental Europe, and revenues increased from £103 million in 2005 to £144 million in 2008.

In March 2008 Tunstall announced their new partnership with Charterhouse Capital Partners, which further strengthens their growth plans. The conditions that prevail in the current financial market make the acquisition by Charterhouse Capital Partners for £514 million, even more exceptional.

Relationship with Burns Carlton Plc 

Terry Ellis, CEO of Burns Carlton Plc has known James Buckley, the CEO of Tunstall for over 20 years, and indeed placed him in his first sales role. For 10 years Terry provided recruitment services to James at Cable & Wireless, culminating in placing James, himself as Sales and Marketing Director at Tunstall in 1999.

Burns Carlton Plc has completed several key appointments for Tunstall including the UK Managing Director, Service Director and Research and Development Director.
