An exceptional opportunity has arisen within one of our Telco clients who are looking for an exceptional Bid Manager.
This sits within their Industry and Public Sector service line and is responsible for pre sales activities for Vertical Markets across Noth Europe.
Overview
For the North Europe LSS team, the Bid Manager is the person primarily responsible for end-to-end co-ordination of customer offers, with responsibility to manage through the complete opportunity lifecycle from identification to contract signature. As such, the Bid Manager will manage each opportunity as a project, driving inputs from across the business to meet required timescales for customer responses and the opportunity lifecycle process.
The role holder is not expected to act as a bid "administrator", but is expected to drive the response process such that an appropriate offer strategy is identified and pursued, that an effective project delivery framework and schedule is defined, and that responsibilities across the organisation for both pre-sales activity and post-contract delivery are established and maintained. This includes managing the creation of an appropriate commercial framework for each opportunity, to include any required agreements with third parties, with quantitative risk identification and mitigation within the financial model.
The role combines elements of project management, commercial and contract management, financial modelling and technical awareness. Furthermore, this is not an internally focussed role, since the Bid Manager will be expected to interface with customers at all levels in order to present our offers, including primary decision maker and executive level.
The successful candidates may have backgrounds such project/programme management, executive level bid management, or commercial management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble and lead virtual deal teams, including sales professionals, subject matter experts, consultants, functional experts, solution architects, and service delivery professionals.
- Lead development of best-in-class proposals, including allocation of specific tasks and responsibilities to all virtual team members and inspection of team work products to ensure quality control, consistency and clarity of key messages.
- Ensure that a robust qualification and business case development process is utilised prior to bid resource commitment and revalidated during each step of the offer development.
- Ensure a robust contracting risk management process is utilised and discussed during each step of offer development.
- Develop and manage the bid development project plan, including setback schedules, to ensure all internal, partner and customer deadlines are met with sufficient time allowed for ensuring iterations and high quality work output.
- Manage offers through application of the Opportunity Lifecycle Process.
- Act as the interface between pre-sales and the delivery organisation, to ensure that customer solutions are appropriate to our capabilities and hence will be delivered through the execution phase in line with customer expectations. This will include working with the delivery organisation (project/programme managers, technical experts, etc.) to define an appropriate delivery schedule together with relevant team structures, headcount requirements, etc.
- Engage with Vertical Markets customers to present new solutions, offers, etc., as well as to present and defend customer offers.
- Establish my clients Financial Summary and gain approval from relevant stakeholders in line with the firms Schedule of Authorization (SoA), and consolidate the required offer financials throughout the offer process.

Essential:
- Strong programme and schedule management skills, with the ability to co-ordinate and motivate diverse teams to meet challenging customer requirements.

- Proven ability to resolve problems and break through the constraints encountered when leading complex, high risk, high profile sales projects
- Proven ability to negotiate internally for critical resources and externally with clients and suppliers to achieve contract closure.
- Aware of financial modelling principles, able to provide input to the creation of complete business proposals to customers, as well as manage their creation by others.
