Our client is a highly reputable and high-profile global group that manufactures a variety of FMCG products. Following a period of sustained growth and profitability they require a Head of Procurement to join a circa US$100m turnover business unit to manage, develop and build the Far East supplier base. This appointment will be based out of their major in-house production facility in southern China (commutable from Hong Kong) and will require travel to suppliers across the Far East.
This is a broad appointment that will provide local procurement competency by initiating a robust procurement strategy for direct and in-direct materials or products, coupled with significant NPD; working with aligned teams. The appointment will interface with approved suppliers, expedite supply, ensuring all legalities are achieved and manage all contractual & logistical processing; managing a team of approximately 10.
To be considered for this exciting appointment it is essential that you can demonstrate experience of working in a commercially focused procurement / supply development appointment in the Far East. You will therefore have experience of Far East culture and effective management and penetration of the supply base. UK / Europe based candidates with extensive tour experience in the Far East will also be of great interest. Most importantly you will be a Procurement professional with experience of high volume product management and sourcing coupled with long-term supply management / relationship building. Candidates will be considered from any manufacturing sector, ideally having exposure to using SAP or a similar ERP / MRP system. You will possess excellent leadership and decision-making skills, coupled with drive, energy, passion and a results-orientated outlook.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly self-motivated and enthusiastic individual from any Import / Export Logistics environment, coupled with a good working knowledge of customs and excise compliance. Previous experience of forecasting would be advantageous, but is not a prerequisite as full training will be provided.
