Burns Carlton Chief Executive Terry Ellis founded Burns Carlton in 2003, with a view to building a leading supplier of executive and mid-market recruitment services.
Prior to Burns Carlton, Terry co-founded Ellis Fairbank in 1992. Terry sold Ellis Fairbank in 2001 and at the point of sale the ‘Sunday Times’ listed Ellis Fairbank as the 47th fastest growing (by profit) business in the UK.
With over 25 years recruitment experience, Terry has established a strong Burns Carlton brand and business platform, based on exceptional client relationships and partnerships while maintaining that the focus of any successful recruitment company should be in its people.
Terry also manages the Private Equity Recruitment divison at Burns Carlton.
Bob Healy is a an accomplished Company Director and entrepreneur based in Leeds, with experience in disposals, buy outs and Private Equity transactions across a range of industries. Bob has developed core management and financial skills with Lex Service Group, Xerox and ADT.
During Bob’s time with Amberley Group Plc, they grew from a market capitalisation of £1 million to £70 million, through acquisition and organic development. Whilst at Amberley Group Plc, Bob led the team which floated the Chemical Group on the main market.
Mike King joined Burns Carlton in June 2005. Within 3 months Mike was promoted onto the Board of Directors. Mike's role is as Sales Director of our London office.
Mike’s industry related experience began in 2001 when he was part of the team which set up the first Yorkshire based offices for a market leading Accountancy and Finance Recruitment Firm. Mike later joined a Sales and Marketing specialist recruitment company as Branch Manager, before being promoted to Regional Manager and being instrumental in growing the business from 2-6 offices.
Following this, Mike set up his own recruitment business and one of the divisions was subsequently purchased by Burns Carlton, this led to Mike joining the Board of Directors.
Toby Cowley joined Burns Carlton as Sales Director in London. In addition to significantly developing this ever expanding team, he has also been responsible for launching the highly successful Burns Carlton Real Estate brand.
In his new role as Business Development Director, Toby has enjoyed huge success with a number of high profile clients such as Credit Suisse, MGPA and JER Partners, and is currently developing the Burns Carlton Real Estate international proposition.
Having started his career as a junior consultant with Hays Accountancy Personnel over 8 years ago, Toby quickly progressed to Associate Director at Huntress Search. More recently he was Associate Director for Search Consultancy where he successfully launched two specialist Accountancy and Finance divisions covering both London and the Home Counties.
Simon Lownds was on the Burns Carlton Board as Business Development Director for three years prior to a recent promotion to Managing Director
Pre and post degree Simon worked within general manufacturing and the food sector in a senior operational and technical capacity. Simon specialises in the recruitment of senior technical, operational, engineering and general management positions across the Manufacturing and Engineering sector.
Prior to joining Burns Carlton, Simon was Head of Consulting Services for Strategi Group – a market leading company specialising within the HR market.
Prior to Strategi Group Simon’s career developed with TMP Hudson where he progressed to become an Associate Director, responsible for technical operations and general management practice for the UK.
Whilst at Burns Carlton Simon has helped secure ‘Preferred Supplier Status’ for Northern Foods, Dairy Crest, Coors and BorgWarner. Simon also holds the post of Account's Director, and has made a major contribution to our success in this field.
Ian Robinson’s association with Burns Carlton started in an external advisory capacity in 2003 until he was appointed to the Board and made responsible for the Financial Management of Burns Carlton in 2006.
Ian’s accountancy background is in Business Services and Corporate Finance as an adviser to owner managed entrepreneurial businesses. Whilst in practice Ian has advised management on business start-ups, acquisitions, disposals and management buy-outs/buy-ins.
Prior to joining Burns Carlton Ian worked in practice in Leeds for a leading, independent firm of Chartered Accountants.
Lisa Jones has been on the Burns Carlton Board of Directors as IT Director for one year.
Lisa has worked within the IT industry for 12 years. As an IT Training Professional, she managed a team of trainers for a global IT Training company. Before moving to Burns Carlton, Lisa was Head of IT for Ellis Fairbank for six years, where she led her team to win the prestigious IT Department of the Year award for Computing Magazine.
At Burns Carlton Lisa leads a team of IT and Marketing professionals whose objective is to streamline the sales process in order to effect the speedy delivery of sales assignments.
