My client is a leading multi-disciplinary design consultancy specialising in many sectors within civil engineering design. With offices across the UK, they are experiencing rapid growth in the London area and as such have a requirement for experienced Bridge Engineers to assist in the delivery and development of exciting projects within the bridge engineering sector. You will also provide innovative ways of providing design services and supervising the work of other less experienced staff within the bridges division.
The Role:
- Undertake the roles Designer or Checker including supervising the work of CAD technicians preparing drawings
- Site visits and surveys, inspection of bridges and structures, structural surveys and condition monitoring, supervision of sub-contractors
- Preparation and checking of feasibility studies, inspection, assessment and technical reports and other written documents.
- Preparation/checking of design calculations, structural analysis
- Production and checking of designs, drawings and documents, the direction and supervision of CAD technicians and suppliers
- Delivery of work (personal workload and those of suppliers and technicians under the job-holder's control) to programme, budget and specification
The Requirement:
- BEng, MEng or equivalent qualifications
- PTS or other track safety qualifications are desired
- CEng, MICE or MIStructE, or working towards either of these qualifications is a must.
- Relevant experience, primarily in the preparation of civil engineering design documents for the rail/highways industry.
- The Jobholder should be computer literate and conversant with MS Office suite and with structural analysis software (the company uses SuperSTRESS, ASAS and Archie). Familiarity with production of drawings using AutoCAD is also desired.
