Well availability and safety will be the key areas of responsibility in this opening within the Well Construction and Maintenance Department. As the successful candidate you will ensure that safety specifications for wells equipment and well operations are maintained and that any subsea well abnormal behaviour is investigated and remedial actions proposed. In addition, you will also participate in the design and choice of new subsea trees and completion equipment. During subsea campaigns you will be accountable for organising pre-job meetings and risk assessments and for supervising specialist contractor activities, reporting problems and investigating results as required.

As the successful candidate you will be a Subsea Engineer ideally with experience working for an operator. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the fluids strategy and activities within the context of the overall drilling programme. You must take care to ensure that safety and commercial performance are optimised. You will also form key responsibilities of this new role within the Well Construction and Maintenance Department. You will also be accountable for ensuring compliance of fluids activities within operational and environmental standards ensuring the optimisation of fluids in order to facilitate the best possible well operations performance.

Planning and organising the activities of the fluids group will require you to take responsibility for the fluids budget and to act as focal point for fluids related issues within the company and also external bodies i.e. BERR, HSE, etc. You will also ensure conformance of fluid group practices with internal and external rules and regulations, prepare and execute fluids related programmes to promote safe and successful drilling operations and identify, organise and manage fluids related technical studies.

As the successful candidate you should have:

• BSc or MSc or equivalent in an appropriate engineering discipline with significant experience in offshore drilling operations and a high level of knowledge in the fluids area


• A good working knowledge of external rules, standards and procedures in the fluids and environmental areas

Reporting to the Section Head, your role will be to assist in the installation, maintenance and operation of building services and industrial mechanical process plant (boilers, pumps, heat exchangers) in the delivery of heat energy. You will also assist the sales function to seek, develop and evaluate heat sales to new and existing customers. The role is multi-faceted and will require someone with the ability to multi-task on a daily basis.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of mechanical building services; knowledge of electrical and control engineering would be advantageous and will be qualified to a minimum of HNC/HND level. A qualification or demonstrable working knowledge of AutoCAD software packages is essential and will also be proficient in IT generally.
