My client is a highly ambitious International division of a prestigious group. They manufacture a range of products which can be supplied into a wide range of manufacturing industries and also into other applications/ sectors which include Construction.

They currently seek to strengthen their sales resource with the appointment of a Senior Business/ Product Manager who can take full P & L responsibility for the Product and its performance. This will be a senior role which requires strategic thought, it will have ownership of every aspect of the product - for example, supporting sales with fixing price, liaise with R& D in relation to NPD, analyse the competitor propositions and feed back into the business changes required in order to maintain product competitiveness and attraction. For example, if cost needs to be taken out of the sale price, liaise with Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Quality in order to establish how this can be achieved.

It is anticipated that you will touch every aspect of strategic thinking and tactical implementation been responsible for demand Planning and Forecasting, Pricing, Distribution, Commercial. Marketing etc in order to achieve the planned market growth, revenues and profitability objectives.

As this is a senior role, you will report directly to the Divisional Managing Director, it is likely that you will have a primary degree ideally in an appropriate Engineering or Materials Science discipline, also as you will work across Geographical and Cultural borders, languages will be advantageous.

My client is a global engineering consultancy and a market leader within the rail industry. Being at the fore-front of signalling design both in the UK and internationally they always have a number exciting opportunities for individuals to work abroad. Due to the consistent demand in their international projects, I have some excellent opportunities for competent signalling designers to work overseas on some of the world's most exciting rail projects in countries such as Sweden, South Africa, Abu-Dhabi, Australia and many other locations all over the world

Working within a team, you'll deliver a range of rail signalling projects. It's a key challenge that will involve ensuring that relevant procedures, standards, controls and best practices are correctly implemented. You'll also provide day-to-day support for staff and take responsibility for approving work.

The Role:

  • Design and integration of signalling systems for new construction and upgrade lines.

  • Verification of signalling design work for international projects, some of which are based in London and other countries around the world.

  • Preparation and check of detailed Signalling Scheme Plans.

  • Design and checking of Signalling Circuits in accordance with current and client signalling practice.

  • Conceptual signalling design for new stations and line work.

  • Produce and check Signalling Control Tables.

  • Preparation and check of processor based interlocking application data reflecting current and client signalling practice.

  • Acting as an independent checker of signalling circuits plans and application data prepared by others.

  • Participate and act as Senior/Principal Signalling Design Engineer and have regular liaison with satellite offices throughout the world.


The Requirement:

  • You will ideally hold relevant IRSE signalling licenses as you will be responsible for approving day-to-day work.

  • Experience within the railway industry is a MUST.

  • Strong people management skills.

  • Knowledge of installation and testing practices.

  • Ability to interpret high-level design specifications.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with people at all levels.

  • Experience of signaling design checking.
