Senior Geophysicist
Leading independent Oil Company urgently seek a highly skilled skilled senior exploration geophysicist to join their Stavanger based team. This company have rapidly increased their North Sea portfolio over the last two years through both acquisition and increased exploration activity.
Candidates will be responsible for undertaking geological evaluations for exploration, new ventures and existing business ventures for the company. They will also manage technical and professional relationships with Government bodies and partners.
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
* Undertake and manage JV and AMI relationships, work programmes, regional and license evaluations and new venture business.
* Manage the planning, budgeting, processing, reprocessing of seismic data.
* Identify and develop drillable prospect areas by acquiring, processing and interpreting seismic data.
* Provide geophysical analysis and input for the evaluation of proven and prospective hydrocarbon accumulations in the companies Norwegian operations.
* Originate creative new venture ideas and analyses to identify new plays and opportunities.
* Mentor and manage junior staff in the office to aid their career progression.
* Provide a strong geophysical influence on the exploration team.
* Functional responsibility for the workstation environment and ensure the geophysical data base is maintained and updated regularly.
* Must be able to integrate commercial considerations into technical evaluations.
Ideal candidates will have a good knowledge of both the UKCS and NCS geology and be able to run projects with other UKCS and NCS focussed companies. They should have strong experience working on the Kingdom software suite and other Unix based interpretation packages. Candidates must have the ability to carry out processing and interpretation of geophysical data for producing structural maps for areas, prospects or discoveries which are geologically consistent. They should have an understanding of seismic attribute analysis with a demonstrated ability to apply the correct attribute analysis to reduce risk no prospects and plays. Candidates will preferably have a knowledge of seismic data loading, PSDM creation, VSP analysis and generation of synthetics.
