Our client is a market leading provider of products and services to a very demanding and discerning client base. The business is Private Equity backed, has a turnover in excess of £120 million and operates through a branch network covering the whole of the UK. Following a recent re-structure, the business now seeks to recruit a highly experienced Regional Director to maximize the commercial potential of the South East region through the definition and delivery of Best in Class practices through the branch network

The role

The role will report directly to the Executive Team and will be fully accountable for a region encompassing c20 branches across the South East. As Regional Director your primary responsibility is to ensure that each individual branch within your region is profitable, provides excellent customer service and acts within a manner that is HSE focused and consistent with the company brand and values. This will be achieved through effective data capture, financial control and KPI management allowing you to identify areas of under-performance, areas of risk as well as areas of opportunity for the Region and through 1-2-1s and regular face to face reviews with the Branch Managers, identify corrective measures and actions whilst developing Best in Class practices, procedures and policies through enhanced communication.

The Requirements

Ideally of graduate caliber we are looking for an individual who is commercially astute and financially aware, data / KPI driven, possess a high work ethic and has a demonstrable track record in successfully managing a profitable multi-branch operation. In addition we require an inspirational leader who has a natural hands-on style, excellent people skills and genuinely believes in the training and development of people to un-lock potential. The ideal candidate for this role will have had exposure to highly competitive, commodity, cost driven environments and an individual who has the intellectual capacity to challenge current working practices and will not accept second best and therefore capable of delivering Best in Class

Trainee Quantity Surveyor / Estimator

£20,000 - £30,000 plus excellent package

Their head office is located in the Midlands, with the business benefiting from a network of branches strategically placed around the UK. The companies Client list represents a whos who of the construction industries blue chip market leaders with the group achieving preferred contractor status by a number of these.

Due to strong growth in the last financial year a need has been identified to bolster their Commercial team with the addition of a Trainee Quantity Surveyor/Estimator. Successful individuals will have a background in Construction, perhaps having trained in the sector and looking for their first permanent career opportunity, you may have trained commercially within a different sector of construction and wish to change industry or perhaps you are a Scaffolder or Charge Hand that wishes to move into the office and train in a commercial function.

Individuals will be bright, articulate, motivated and hungry for achievement and career progression. You will be rewarded with an excellent salary and package, the opportunity to work for on of the UKs largest Industrial Services contractors and all relevant training. This is a growing region for the group and as such the commercial elements of Estimating and Quantity Surveying will be coupled into one role, it is expected that this role will split at some point in the future and two defined roles be created.

Quantity Surveyor / Estimator- Industrial Scaffolding

£30,000 - £40,000 plus excellent package

The chosen individual will be responsible for the financial control of projects from pre-tender to tender award through to final account, liaising with the on-site team, contractors, suppliers and the wages and accounts departments to ensure projects are won and delivered within budget and in profit. This is a growing region for the group and as such the commercial elements of Estimating and Quantity Surveying will be coupled into one role, it is expected that this role will split at some point in the future and two defined roles be created.

Operations Manager - Scaffolding

My Client is one of the largest and best known Specialist Subcontract Scaffold and Access groups in the UK. Due to business change over 2009/2010 their North East region now requires a strong leader to take up all management responsibility and report directly into the National Operations Director. This is a strategic position as this region is diverse in its client base and is poised for significant growth in coming years. The successful individual will have proven experience within either Commercial Town work or Industrial Scaffolding; however this business manages Commercial projects only.

To be considered for this opportunity candidates must possess a demonstrable track record of Scaffolding Branch or Business management. You will have managed multiple projects across a large geographical area with a significant headcount including Supervisors, Contract Management and Commercial / Administration teams. You will have been financially responsible for your division of the business, reporting into the Board or Ownership.

Intermediate Quantity Surveyor - Special Works

£35,000 - £45,000 plus car and package

My Client is a large and well respected Special Works contractor on the Essex / Suffolk border. They have grown substantially over the last decade and have broadened their work into a range of complementing sectors. Their Special Works division has developed from a small team 5 years ago to one of the largest in the group and it has a strong forward order book for 2010 and 2011. Due to business growth they now wish to strengthen their commercial team with the addition of an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to work under their Group Commercial Director and alongside another QS and Estimator.

The role will be varied and hands on, alongside your Surveying duties you will be expected to add value to estimating, purchasing and buying. Package sizes range in value from £30,000 to £2 Million across Utilities, Rail, Residential and Commercial Developments. The role will take projects through from initial enquiry to site induction, cost control and final account.

Individuals are welcomed from all areas of the Construction industry but those from the following sectors would be particularly relevant; Small Works, Sub-Contractors, Small Builders or Fit-Out. Due to the fast paced environment of this business the successful individual will be dynamic, driven and reactionary, my Client will often win projects that are due to start the following week so the experience and ability to work in a fast-fast changeable environment is a must. Individuals will have some formal qualifications but arent expected to have a degree of be RICS accredited.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join a large and professionally managed Contractor in the South East, there are genuine progression opportunities for the right person.
