Category Manager - FMCG
My client is an exciting and vibrant fmcg food manufacturer with high-profile grocery brands always at the top of the list for the most loved household speciality products.
The business has recently doubled in size due to a high profile merger, taking the turnover to just over £120m. The merger has allowed the business to gain a collateral of knowledge to maintain market leading status in their given category.
Any new employee coming in to the commercial division of the business goes through an NPD/Product innovation course to fully understand the quality and flavour aspects of the products.
This gives anyone be it from a National Account Management background to a Brand Marketer the opportunity to operate fully cross functionally to strengthen the organisation's position in-store & maintain the quality of these exceptional products.
This opportunity is to become the Category Manager for a successful range of products in the company portfolio. This selection of products has recently had significant positive press attention, due to high product quality and endorsements from Celebrity chefs.
You will be tasked with leading the development of the category strategy. With your category marketing skill set you will lead structured range reviews and coordinate category strategies in alignment with Branding & Customer workshops. By having an exceptional track record of leading projects cross functionally, you will be able to work with customer management colleagues to lead category plan development. This newly created role also has the added importance of dealing with the top four multiple retailers to recommend actions for both the business and the given retail partner. A key area of expertise will be to demonstrate confidence and capability with core category competency including: Range reviews, understanding insight & data, developing category strategy and presentation ability.
You must have demonstrable Category Marketing experience at a successful fmcg food & beverage manufacturer. Working predominantly within a multiple retail environment you must be able to understand the workings of Asda, Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsbury.
